Milton Glaser
American conceptual maximalism — I ❤ NY is its emblem
Co-founder of Push Pin Studios (1954) with Seymour Chwast, Glaser bridges illustration and design in a conceptual maximalism that became a national language. Co-founder of New York Magazine in 1968, he established Milton Glaser, Inc. in 1974.
His work is iconic: the I ❤ NY logo (1977), the Bob Dylan poster (1966), the DC Comics logo. National Design Award for lifetime achievement (2004), National Medal of Arts (2009).
