Jonathan Barnbrook
A politically charged maximalism: ornament and critique intertwined
Barnbrook intertwines ornament and critique: his typography is as much a weapon as an adornment. Founder of the VirusFonts foundry, an Adbusters collaborator, he holds the militant side of maximalism.
He designed David Bowie's late album covers — Heathen, Reality, The Next Day, and Blackstar (Grammy for Best Recording Package, 2016). Retrospective at the Design Museum London in 2007.
