Co-founder of Push Pin Studios (1954, renamed The Pushpin Group in 1981), Chwast embodies the eclecticism of the "Push Pin Style": historical revivals, illustration and lettering on equal footing with typography.
The Push Pin Graphic ran from 1957 to 1981. More than 30 illustrated children's books; work in the permanent collections of MoMA, Cooper-Hewitt, the Library of Congress and the Gutenberg Museum.
