Lubalin turned typography into image: interlocking letters, integrated logotypes, a heightened expressivity of the sign. Director of the magazines Avant Garde, Eros and Fact with Ralph Ginzburg.
Co-creator of Avant Garde Gothic (1970), Serif Gothic and ITC Lubalin Graph. The Lubalin Study Center at Cooper Union holds over 50,000 pieces of design ephemera, open to researchers by appointment.
